The Marathon Chronograph Search & Rescue (CSAR) Pilot/Dive watch is built to ISO 6425 standards and manufactured in accordance with US Government MIL-SPEC specifications. The Marathon CSAR is designed to be used for dives, search and rescue operations, as well as flights, and is a watch built to withstand the most extreme conditions.
It is water resistant down to 30 ATM - 300 meters (1000 feet) underwater. Built from 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the watch is a high quality, purpose built watch that will reliably accompany you wherever you take it. The rugged case, with solid flared crown guards, has a satin-brushed finish.
The matte black dial shows both 12-hour and military style 24-hour time with a bilingual Day/Date window at the 3 o'clock position. The dial is protected with a scratch resistant dome-shaped sapphire glass crystal with an anti reflective coating to ensure that the dial can be easily read even under direct sunlight or deep underwater.
The extra thick 120-click uni-directional bezel features large grooves which enable it to be rotated under all conditions - even when wearing gloves underwater. Whilst the black anodized bezel insert is engraved with white 60-minute markings for clear visibility and has a MaraGlo luminous triangle pip at the 12 o’clock position. The deeply knurled screwdown crown is also adjustable with wet hands or when wearing gloves.
The Marathon Chronograph Search & Rescue Pilot/Dive Watch is handmade in La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland to guarantee the highest level of quality and accuracy in manufacturing. The watch is powered by a Swiss made 25 Jewel Valjoux ETA 7750 automatic chronograph movement, guaranteeing a very reliable and accurate timekeeping experience.
The CSAR uses self contained Tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations. A gas tube is placed on each hour marker and each syringe-style hand. MaraGlo luminescence is used for the 12 hour bezel marker. Tritium tubes are self illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photo-luminescent paint which requires an external light source to create a glow.
Chronograph timing is dual graduated, inner graduations are 1/5 sec as well as decimal 1/100 minute timing (alternate inner timing ring). A sweep central seconds hand indicates 1/5 sec up to 60 seconds; Chronograph sub registers measure up to 30 minutes and 12 hours each. Register indexes & hands use MaraGlo™ paint for low light viewing. Encapsulated Tritium (Isotope H3) light sources are used on the dial at each hour position as well as the Minute and Hour hands - activity between 28-30 millicuries (under 30 millicuries).
The watch comes with a high quality and extremely comfortable vulcanized rubber strap with the Marathon emblem etched into one of the keepers.
The Marathon CSAR Chronograph Search & Rescue Pilot/Dive Watch combines Military toughness with Swiss craftsmanship in a watch that will get the job done, and look good doing it.
